We are an Erasmus+ accredited school from Slovakia, but of Hungarian ethnicity. We have three goals in our Erasmus plan:

  1. Establishing practical opportunities for students to develop digital skills through the promotion of local tourism.
  2. Enhancing the professional and technical communication competencies of teachers.
  3. Improving and expanding specialized teaching competencies in the application of local heritage education within the classroom.

In the 2024/25 school year we visited Latvia and Italy and we successfully hosted our Latvian partners. In the 2025/26 school year we have partnered with a Polish and a Slovenian school. We already hosted our Slovenian partner. Our outbound mobilities are yet to happen. We are looking for student mobility opportunities for the 2026/27 school year, as well as job shadowing opportunities for the current year.

Organization strengths

We have entered the Slovakian nationwide Teacher for the 21st century amongst the first schools. Hence, we have been teaching our primary grades according to the new curricular requirements for two years now. Our teachers are attending training courses to move toward a 'learner-centered' classroom. They are focusing on what students can do through formative assessment, cooperative learning, and group work. This shift helps our pupils develop the social skills and teamwork they need for the future. Our school is surrounded with a vast green space, so it is a very calm environment for learning. We have an outdoor classroom that we use in the warmer months. Our village is nestled in the Slovak Karst National Park with UNESCO World Heritage listed caves and other natural treasures. It is also a region rich in historical and cultural monuments. Plešivec, although being small (2500 inhabitants) is very well served by public transport- major train lines stop here. Also, it is one hour away from the nearest airport-Košice. Alternatively, it is a three-hour bus ride away form the Budapest airport. Our strength is our efforts and experience in engaging our students with their natural and cultural environment in the forms of special project days and targeted activities.
