Városligeti Magyar-Angol Két Tanítási Nyelvű Általános Iskola

The Városligeti Hungarian-English Bilingual Primary School can be found in the capital city, Budapest. The impressive Art Nouveau building of the school is situated next to the lovely City Park for which is named. Our school was the first primary school in Hungary to develop and introduce a Hungarian-English bilingual education program in 1991. Since 2004 all our students have been in the program. The school has a special Hungarian-English bilingual curriculum. This means that some subjects are taught in English besides the English lessons. (e.g.: Music, Art, P.E., Science, History, English Culture, Computer Studies)

Our teachers often organize methodology workshops for bilingual teachers and take part in various trainings. From 2019 we take part in Erasmus projects and participate in intensive methodology courses in other European countries.

In our latest project “Naturally Artificial” we expect  to develop our digital competencies, particularly our comprehensive professional knowledge about artificial intelligence. We plan to share our Peaceful Schools program internationally and further expand our experiences. We aim to deepen our eco-school efforts, promote environmental awareness, prevent burnout, and create a supportive,
motivating work environment. By expanding our international network, we aim to strengthen the realization of our long-term plans.

We are seeking solutions to the digital, environmental and mental challenges arising from the rapid development of the virtual world which has an impact on our teaching and the mental health of students. By methodological renewal we aim to keep our leading role among Hungarian bilingual schools. We aim to create a modern school where we spread our innovative ideas beyond our borders. We plan to complement our Hungarian-language digital and antibullying training with international experience.
