Our school is one of the oldest state special education institution in Serbia. Our school was founded in 1928.and  it was the fourth special educational  school for children with hearing and speech impairments (after Zagreb in 1885, Belgrade in 1897 and Ljubljana in 1990).

The school  provides quality programs  for preschoolers  with disabilities

The school provides primary education programs for children with disabilities. Elementary school provides quality educational and rehabilitation programs for students with different disabilities: sensory impairments, cognitive disabilities of various types, autism, physical disabilities, multiple disabilities,  learning disabilities.

Rehabilitation programs  for students:

• Hearing and Speech Exercises -2 classes per week per student
• Phonetic rhythmics
• Corrective gymnastics
• The program in the snoezelen room

The school provides vocational training and education for students with disabilities in the field of:

1) Agriculture, food production and processing, educational profile: Baker

2) Chemistry, non-metals and graphic designing, educational profile:       Bookbinder

3) Personal services, educational profile:  female hairdresser

Our school is a Regional center for assistive tchnology

We also provide support to many elementary school students from Jagodina and the surrounding area.

The school provides accommodation and meals for students in our dormitory.

Our mission is to give students with disabilities quality rehabilitation and education and to include them in all life activities in the local surroundings.

Since 2009, our school has become an educational center for students with all types of disabilities.

Since 2022, our school has become a Resource Center, within which we provide additional support to all students with disabilities in the regular education system in 5 regions of Serbia (Pomoravlje Region, Zaječarski Region,, Rasinski region, Borski region and Braničevski Region). The goal of establishing the Resource Center is to improve the quality of inclusive education and upbringing and increase the availability of additional support for children, students, adults, families and employees in other education and upbringing institutions.

We have experience in implementing Council of Europe and Erasmus+ projects. Also we have two KA1 Erasmus accreditations in VET and school education field from 2022. year till the end of 2027.

Since 2013, our school has been a member of the international HIPEN network – a network of institutions, schools and professionals dealing with hearing-impaired people

In 2021, our school is one of the founders of the ENIBB network – EUROPEAN NETWORK FOR INCLUSION BEYOND THE BORDERS –
