Melkys school

Melkys school (VsI Melkio mokykla) is community operated school established in Vilnius district, in Melkys village. School is providing full day formal and non formal education for the children of the Melkys, surrounding villages and Vilnius city. The school started its activities in 2014 with only 6 children and grew to 119 pupils, counting 1-10 grades’ pupils of children in pre-school and
pre-primary school education.
The school seeks to achieve its main goal – to create a place for children where they can grow, develop, educate freely and safely understanding themselves, their emotions, the world, and surrounding nature and to confidently walk the path of their life. The idea of the school is based on the principle of cooperation – pupils, together with parents, teachers, administration are co-creators of the school, it’s atmosphere and are constantly learning how to improve the microclimate of the school’s community, create and live together.
There are 36 staff members, 24 of them pupils’ parents.
