Center for Education Čakovec is school in Croatia and it is attended by children and young people with intelectual disabilities. We educate 185 students in the education system, aged 7 to 21 who have mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and some additional influential difficulties such as: autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and speech and sensory difficulties.

We have two programs for education. One is a special program for people with mild intellectual disabilities from 1-8. grade in which they learn content as in a regular school in 3rd or 4th grade. Another type of program is a special program for acquiring competencies in activities of independent living and work for people with moderate intellectual disabilities. It involves students up to the age of 21 and as much as they can gain independence in communication, literacy at a simple level, self-care such as preparing simple meals and maintaining hygiene.

The school also has 26 adult students in a half-day stay for people with intellectual disabilities over the age of 21 and funded by the Ministry of Social Policy. They make useful objects out of clay.

We have about a hundred employees, mostly educational rehabilitators (special teachers), then there are also teachers of physical education, art and music, speech therapists, social pedagogues, psychologists, nurses, caregivers, teaching assistants and administrative and technical staff.

As a school we have an active student cooperative that is well known at the state level, we record educational videos so we invite you to follow our Youtube channel and our students achieve notable sports results.

The biggest problem we face is the lack of space, and the construction of a new school is in process.
