| The Technological High School “Captain Nicolae Pleșoianu” is a school founded in 1913 and has become representative for technical education in the city of Râmnicu Vâlcea. The mission of our school is to offer to the beneficiaries high-quality education, equal opportunities for personal and professional development, in order to be able to adapt to a dynamic society. Starting with the 2012-2013 school year, it has in its structure the “Spiru Haret” Middle School and Kindergarten no. 5, offering training for kindergarten, primary, middle school, high school, vocational and post-secondary students. Our school offers training in the fields of mechanics, motor transport and construction and public works. Although the main interest is in the automotive sector, we are the only school in the county that provides specialized training for the qualifications of machinist, road and earthworks equipment, respectively sanitary and gas installations. Thus, students from all over Vâlcea County choose to continue their studies after the 8th grade in our specializations – some of them being accommodated in the school’s boarding school. For the instructional-educational process, practical training classes are held at economic agents based on internship contracts and at the school’s workshop, which benefits from optimal equipment.
For the approximately 670 students, the high school and middle school have modern classrooms, offices, laboratories and workshops equipped with modern technical equipment and software and 2 car simulators, a dining room, accommodation spaces for 54 students, a school library with over 16,000 volumes, a sports field with synthetic turf and night lighting, a gym and its own car park for students taking the driving school. The teaching staff is united, competent, with significant experience in the technical and socio-human fields, continuously interested in knowing and applying new teaching methods and techniques, in professional and personal development, and in building new partnerships with other schools, NGOs and institutions. Outside of school, our students capitalize on their other abilities, namely their artistic and sports abilities. Thus, we have a vocal group that represents the school either during the winter holidays, on national day, at Christmas, and other festivals and competitions. Also, some of our students participate in various sports competitions, such as football, table tennis, kick boxing, etc. At the same time, it should be mentioned the interest of our students in intercultural exchanges, being particularly receptive to volunteer activities and to carrying out activities together with other students from other specializations or from other countries.
