Samsun Olgunlaşma Enstitüsü (Traditional Craft-Based Lifelong Learning and Design Institute), established in 1960, is a well-rooted lifelong learning institution with a 65-year history dedicated to the mission of researching, preserving, and transmitting Turkey’s cultural heritage to future generations. Operating under the Ministry of National Education, the Institute offers a multidisciplinary structure through four core departments: Research, Design-Production, Promotion-Marketing, and Education-Training. With seven distinct areas of expertise, including Fashion Design, Handicrafts, Graphics and Photography, and Ceramics and Glass, it blends national handicrafts and traditional arts included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List (such as Marbling, Tile Art, and Calligraphy) with modern designs. Located in the historic Samsun Sultaniye building with its educational units and modern Culture and Art Center, it serves as an active cultural diplomacy and non-formal education center at local, national, and international (Erasmus+) levels. The Institute’s staff consists of 1 Director, 3 Deputy Directors, 15 Teachers, 97 Master Trainers, 3 Administrative Officers, 6 Support Staff, and 3 Interns.
