Samsun Olgunlaşma Enstitüsü

Samsun Maturation Institute was founded in 1960 as the fourth of 30 maturation institutes in Türkiye and is a well-established institution that has been meticulously continuing its work for 65 years. The Institute is a Lifelong Learning Institution that researches cultural values, keeps traditional arts alive and promotes them. Today, it operates under the General Directorate of Life Long Learning and has 4 departments, namely Research, Design and Production, Promotion-Marketing and Education-Training; and 7 different areas, namely Art and Design, Graphics and Photography, Handicrafts, Fashion Design, Jewelry, Ceramics and Glass, Food and Beverage Services. In addition to the arts on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List such as marbling, tile, calligraphy and miniature, work is carried out in workshops for handicrafts registered in the national inventory such as illumination, lace, embroidery and glass shaping. The Institute contributes to the preservation of cultural heritage elements and their transfer to the future generation by carrying out design, production, marketing and training activities in accordance with research results in these areas.

In addition, in the activities related to specific days and weeks carried out by the ministry and throughout the province, in the organizations organized by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism and Provincial Directorate of National Education, Samsun Maturation Institute actively takes part in different fields of work with exhibitions, stage presentations, gift presentations and workshops. In the Culture and Art Center opened under the institute, bazaars, exhibitions and workshops are held during the term. In addition, student groups coming from abroad within the scope of the Erasmus+ program, guests in our province for official programs and the people of Samsun visit our museum and sales office.

There are 1 Director, 3 Vice Directors, 17 Teachers, 91 Master Instructors, 4 Officers, 6 Supporting Personnel, and 3 intern students working at the Institute.

While the application and training units of our Institute are located in the Historical Samsun Sultanisi building on Lise Street, our Culture and Art Center, which was opened this year, offers a pleasant environment to the people of Samsun with its Museum, Sales Office and Cafe on Çiftlik Street.
