The Scientific High School “G. Battaglini” welcomes 1,150 students, about 100 teachers and 36 members of the administrative and technical assistant staff. After the Erasmus Accreditation KA1 2021-2027 went into effect, the school has proposed its own candidacy in order to guarantee relevance, coherence and the positive results of the requested activities for individual participants and for the school as a whole. In fact, the high school is equipped with educational resources and didactic technology that allow for its own humanistic and scientific cultural heritage to deal with the most diverse inter-cultural and intra-cultural demands.
Permanent training of school staff is an unavoidable necessity due to the many rapid socio-economic and technological transformations in process, which modify the cultural and communication scenarios we are immersed in.
The data refer to a training plan that has been created in relation to the needs of updating the curriculum, essential in the light of the epistemological changes in disciplines and to be open to new national and international methodology scenarios, in order to impose adequate teaching of the new cognitive needs of “digital natives”.
On the basis of these new requests made in the school world, the Battaglini High School requires improvements and in depth analysis in the following areas:
CLIL methodology training;
English language courses;
Teaching skills aimed at consolidating teacher-student-family relationships.
The goals that the project intends to achieve are:
Activation of specific and systematic strategies for the development of key competences and citizenship;
Increasing the use of innovative teaching methods in the context of educational paths focused on real tasks;
Strengthening relations with European Secondary Schools for a greater connection and detailed study related to didactic and cognitive-educational aspects.
Implementing teacher professionalism and developing teaching “for skills” through functional and articulated planning, in response to the many differentiated needs of the classrooms.
The school staff would require more incentives to find motivation to work with the unequivocal effects on teaching /learning practices, often times still in line with the canonical frontal lesson, now obsolete and unattractive for “digital natives”. Participation in the structured courses proposed by the key actions of the Erasmus projects represents an effective way of involving the most resistant teachers to innovation and makes the school atmosphere even more positive.
