Liceo Scientifico Statale “F.Masci”

BACKGROUND Liceo Scientifico Statale “F. Masci” is a SCIENTIFIC HIGH SCHOOL with a population of about 800 students aged 15-19 and 90 staff people, located within the urban district Chieti-Pescara, which represents the economic heart of the whole region and the main hub of intermodal traffic on the lines Rome-Pescara and the Adriatic sea. Chieti belongs to a coastal area (Chieti-Ortona) and an industrialized hinterland (that of Pescara Valley) endowed with a huge variety of economic activities, industrial production sectors and further goods and services. Within this frame our school collects a varied catchment area, that means students also come from neighbouring places, but even from farther towns of our region. The heterogeneous nature of the school population represents both a source of wealth and a stimulating challenge, in fact High School Masci, by working continuously on its human resources, wants to be regarded as an educational Community, open to the territory, to any association and socio-cultural reality as well, where students are active citizens.
MISSION and VISION The school curriculum which combines a sound HUMANISTIC TRADITION with a rich SCIENTIFIC CULTURE, open to innovation, is the way chosen to promote the personal growth and the talents of any student, by equipping them with the right and proper knowledge, skills and competences, useful and essential to face professional and advanced training courses within an
increasingly interconnected job market.
THE SCHOOL EDUCATIONAL OFFER is divided into the following fields of study:
1. Ordinary course, a traditional curriculum combining STEM subjects with Humanities such as Latin;
2. Applied Science course with Informatics and Robotics;
3. Cambridge International School in cooperation with the University of Cambridge, offering a
bilingual curriculum (Italian-English) in Maths, Physics and Biology;
4. Biomedical path in cooperation with the University of Chieti and the Provincial Medical Board

5. Mathematical curriculum in cooperation with the Network of Mathematical high schools and the University of L’Aquila;

6. Sports-focused path.
