The cluster of schools Eng. Duarte Pacheco comprises 12 schools, territorially scattered, and offers students 4 levels of education: preschool, 1st, 2nd and 3rd levels of basic/medium education as well as professional courses aimed at the catering industry and 1 alternative class for students at risk of abandoning school before the age of 18. In total, our organization has around 190 teachers, over 2850 students and over 100 members of staff.
Furthermore, we have joined an accredited school consortium comprising a total 56 schools (covering all levels of education), so we now work with double accreditation.
The school population is very heterogeneous in terms of nationalities and ethnicities, over 35 nationalities are represented among our students, the largest representations being Brazil, Romania, Ukraine, Venezuela, Cape Verde, France and the UK (but we also have students from Colombia, the USA, Germany, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Marocco, India, Nepal…)
For a better and greater integration of all students, we offer clubs and extracurricular activities: Music, Chess; Radio, Drama; Archaeology, Erasmus+ and School Sports.
We work with the Prime Skills Foundation in the “Jack Petchey-Speak Out Challenge”, and in initiatives such as “Building your Future”; “Economy for Success”; “CV and job interview”, which address issues related to citizenship, tolerance, and diversity. To develop more inclusive and flexible teaching/learning practices, focusing on the needs of students and elements of the community, we have articulated eTwinning and Erasmus+ projects.
We believe that the participation in these projects will help our students feel more like European citizens and teach them to better accept cultural diversity.
The teachers and the pupils of our school are ready to implement any interesting projects that we feel might help us achieve our goals.
