Bulgaria & Croatia Adventure STEM: Improving Student Engagement through Story-Based Math Lessons and a STEM Jam Festival

Adventure STEM is a collaborative educational initiative designed to enhance student engagement and skill development in Bulgarian primary schools. The project focuses on integrating story-based learning with hands-on STEM activities, culminating in an exciting STEM Jam Festival. Through this innovative approach, we aim to create a dynamic learning environment that fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration among students.

Key components:

  1. Story-based lessons:
    • we will implement a series of 16 story-based lessons over four months, tailored to align with the Bulgarian curriculum. these lessons will engage students (grades 1-4) through narrative-driven activities that incorporate elements of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
    • the lessons are designed to be interactive and immersive, making complex concepts accessible and enjoyable for young learners.
  2. STEM Jam festival:
    • the STEM Jam is a unique, interactive festival that will bring together 150 students and 20 volunteers. it will serve as a capstone event where students apply the knowledge and skills they’ve gained from the lessons in a collaborative and fun environment.

Partners’ role:

We invite schools, universities, and volunteer organizations to join us as partners in this project. as a partner, you will:

  • Collaborate on curriculum integration: work with us to adapt the story-based lessons to fit the needs and standards of Bulgarian education.
  • Support teacher training: participate in the training and provide feedback on the lesson delivery.
  • Engage in the STEM Jam festival: help organize and run the festival, providing volunteers and other partners.
  • Contribute to research and evaluation: assist in evaluating the effectiveness of the project and identifying areas for improvement.
