Taurage Martynas Mazvydas Progymnasium
The progymnasium carries out preschool, primary and basic education part I program, non-formal education. There are about 90 preschool students; about 400 the 1st-4th primary students; about 360 the 5th-8th progymnasium students. In total, about 850 students study at the progymnasium and work 65 teachers. Most of the students are the winners and prize-winners of various Olympiads, contests and competitions.
The school’s strategy is a school that seeks for meaning, discovery and learning success, basing its activities on the community agreements and learning. The priority areas are the quality of education and its improvement, improving student achievement and increasing learning motivation. At the progymnasium, equal attention is paid to all the competencies of a person. The school is distinguished by integrated education and the use of information technology in the educational process. In 2020 the renovation of the progymnasium was completed, in which new educational environments were created that meet modern educational requirements with two modern IT rooms, science laboratory, technology rooms, library – reading room, sensory stimulation room and two outdoor classrooms. All classrooms are equipped with smart screens, audio equipment, projectors, students can use almost 300 tablets during lessons.
Progymnasium has a full team of student support specialists: psychologist, special pedagogue, speech therapist, social pedagogue, health care specialist.
The school has Erasmus+ accreditation until 2027. The school has more than 10 years of experience in participating and implementing Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2 activities. In recent years, eTwinning projects have been implemented at the school, some of them have been awarded by the European Quality eTwinning Badge, indicating that the project reached a certain national and European standard. It has a School eTwinning Badge as well.
